Rural fun in Coast’s northern hinterlands

Member for Wyong David Harris tries out his picking skills at The Giving Farm

With the school holidays just around the corner, Member for Wyong David Harris decided to explore some of the rural treats available for family fun in the north of the region.

First stop was The Giving Farm at Jilliby, where visitors experience real farm life by picking tulips and irises, picking fruit (especially blueberries this season) and feeding farm animals.

There are also kids’ painting classes and classic farm games and activities.

Luna the Lamb showed Harris around the farm, together with farm owners Missy and Anthony Coafield, who shared historical stories of the property.

Also worth a visit are Pick Your Own Oranges at Cedar Farm at Dooralong with 3,000 fruit trees to pick from, Iris Lodge Alpacas at Jilliby offering a unique picnic experience with alpacas and Amazement Fun and Farm Park at Yarramalong where you can explore magical mazes and Australian wildlife.

“It is only a short road trip to the northern hinterlands to explore these hidden gems,” Harris said.

“They are certainly unique and worth the visit during the school holidays.”

The Giving Farm is at 147 Durren Rd, Jilliby; Pick your Own Oranges is at 48 Dittons Rd, Dooralong; Iris Lodge Alpacas is at 33 Dunks Ln, Jilliby; and Amazement Farm and Fun Park is at  170 Yarramalong Rd, Wyong Creek.
