Australia has done well reducing our use of single use plastics.
We have a pretty good recycling industry and we do send our waste overseas but that creates jobs in those countries – a win-win situation I think.
The plastic island out in the middle of the ocean we hear about doesn’t come from Australia; it’s from developing countries in our part of the world.
So why don’t the people here in Australia leading the charge about our plastic usage start a campaign encouraging those countries to change their usage of plastics?
And while you are at it raise your concerns about their emissions.
The enviro groups who have hammered our country ad industries for our spit in the ocean of emissions and plastics should start contacting THOSE counties’ embassies and at least try to alter their policies.
Will it help or change anything?
We won’t know if we don’t try.
