Mother’s Day show with a voodoo groove twist

Rufino and the Coconuts CCN340

The magical misfits of voodoo groove, Rufino and the Coconuts, will present a very special Mother’s Day show at Ettalong Beach on Sunday, May 8.

The world’s foremost proponents of jungle-disco cabaret veer off their Aussie tour to hit the Coast for one afternoon only to appear at the Naughty Noodle Fun Haus.

Vocalist Rufino, from acclaimed European Kabaret ensemble Mikelangelo and the Black Sea Gentlemen, will present a show of “tropical noir” with a full eight-piece band.

The show will recall Serge Gainsbourg’s tropical recordings, Grace Jones’s theatrical Caribbean groove and the primal stomp of The Birthday Party.

The Great Southern Nights show was rescheduled from its earlier date with Rufino being a close contact of a COVID-19 positive case.

“Every show we have had this year has been touched in some way by COVID, either by artists being sick or being a close contact,” Fun Haus Creative Director, Glitta Supernova, said.

“We have had to reschedule multiple events and performers and have learnt that rescheduled culture is better than cancelled culture.

“We feel very lucky and very much look forward to hosting this fabulous touring show.

“Rufino and the Coconuts are the Naughty Noodle’s spirit animals; a high energy, theatrical and original class act.”

Doors will open at 3.30pm with the show to run from 5pm-7.30pm at the Naughty Noodle Fun Haus, 5 Broken Bay Rd, Ettalong Beach.
