The Federal Labor Party has announced it will commit $750,000 to upgrade the Frost Reserve sporting facilities at Kincumber if it wins government on May 21.

Labor candidate for Robertson, Dr Gordon Reid, joined Kincumber Roos President, Scott Baker, to announce the commitment this week.

“When I am out speaking with residents, they mention the Frost Reserve sporting facilities in Kincumber and the need for an upgrade,” Reid said.

“These facilities have been well-used yet are no longer fit for purpose. There are growing numbers of registrations at Kincumber Roos as well as other sporting codes and the facility is showing the pressure.”

Reid said sport needed to be more inclusive and the addition of female changing rooms along with other upgrades will bring the facilities up to a standard that reflects the changing needs of the community.

Baker said nothing has been done to refurbish or upgrade the facilities for decades, even when greater demand has been placed on them.

“The canteen has seen better days and there is no hot water for our showers,” he said.

“There is also very limited storage capacity and difficulty accessing the facilities for non-able-bodied people.

“I look forward to seeing a much-needed upgrade of these facilities.”
