Networking event to help women access health services

Business leaders and community members are being urged to come together to help Central Coast women in need access vital health services.

Central Coast-based organisation Women on Boards will hold its inaugural Networking with Purpose event at South End Social, Gosford, on March 24 with Central Coast Community Women’s Health Centre (CCCWHC).

Women on Boards co-founder and Executive Director, Claire Braund, said the female-led services offered by CCCWHC are a “game-changer” for many women on the Coast.

“Access to quality medical advice and healthcare options is something that many of us take for granted,” she said.

“This is not the case for all women.

“The opportunity provided by the CCCWHC for a baseline health assessment in a safe, female only environment can be a game changer in the lives of women who live amongst us on the Central Coast.

“We have areas of extreme disadvantage, particularly in the north of our region, and we know that women in this circumstance often experience poor health outcomes.”

CCCWHC CEO, Theresa Mason, will be speaking at the event about work of the centre and how people can donate to the Women’s Health Donor Circle.

Mason left the world of corporate banking for the not-for-profit sector in 2017 to take up her role with the CCCWHC in 2018, where she previously held a board position.

She is also a director on the Women’s Health NSW Board and is treasurer of the Central Coast Domestic Violence Committee.

Peak body Women on Boards, a leading advocate for action on gender balance and equity, was founded by Braund and Ruth Medd in 2006.

“The WOB network is full of experienced and skilled women who serve on boards and committees around the country and who are passionate about supporting other women to achieve life and career goals,” Braund said.

“Becoming a donor to CCCWHC is just one way to lend this support.

“WOB is proud to be able to support the CCCWHC at this networking in line with our deep and abiding commitment to equity and social justice.”

Braund said the event is open to men and women with men encouraged to attend and gain a deeper understanding of the intersectional issues around gender inequality,” she said.

The event will be held from 5.30-7.30pm.

Tickets are $66 with $25 from each ticket sold going to the CC Women’s Health Centre.

They include two drinks and light finger food.
