A combination of solid swell, strong currents and powerful waves are creating dangerous surf condition across the Coast and swimmers are asked to exercise extreme caution at all beach locations.

A series of local beaches have been closed today, Wednesday January 5, due to dangerous surf conditions.

The following beaches are officially closed today:

  • BUDGEWOI
  • THE LAKES
  • THE ENTRANCE
  • NORTH ENTRANCE
  • WAMBERAL
  • NORTH AVOCA
  • MACMASTERS BEACHES

As a North East swell continues to push along the coast and is still showing the occasional solid 5-7 ft waves at those north exposed locations.

Winds are SSE adding some choppy conditions across the Coast with winds turning further East and strengthening throughout the day.

The high tide of 1.2 m at 11:37am makes for dangerous surf and beach conditions on outgoing tides throughout the day.

All other patrolled Central Coast Beaches are currently open with beach safety staff onsite until 6pm.
