Fatal dog attack at Kariong home

A five-week-old baby boy has been mauled to death by the family’s pet dog at Kariong in the middle of the night to Sunday July 11, 2021.

Emergency services responded to reports of a baby being attacked by a dog at a house in Kariong, at about 2.20 am. 

Police from the Brisbane Water Police District attended the scene and performed CPR.

Paramedics assisted a short time later, but the infant could not be revived and died at the scene. 

Police could not confirm the type of dog that was involved in the attack. They said it had been secured.  

The baby’s parents were at home at the time.

Police said there were no suspicious circumstances and a report would be prepared for the coroner.

  1. No surprise. This is what happens when people try to humanize animals. Pets are animals and always will be! Undoubtedly there will be more such attacks, as pet humanization goes through the roof!
