Man charged over Erina charity box theft

A man will appear at Gosford Local Court on April 29 in relation to the theft of a charity coin donation device at Erina on March 25.

The 43-year-old Erina man was captured on CCTV footage removing a charity coin collection Money Spinner device from a shopping complex in Karalta Rd.

On April 4, the man was seen in a vehicle in Kuburra Way, Erina.

The vehicle was searched and a backpack was located containing a large amount of coins, believed to be part of the proceeds of the theft.

Further cash and drugs were located in the vehicle.

The man was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with: larceny; supplying a prohibited drug; dealing with property proceeds of crime; and possession of a prescribed restricted substance.
