Lions prepare for season re-start

The Woy Woy Lions Rugby Union club have returned to training at all levels ahead of a confirmed 2020 Central Coast Rugby Union season.

Non-contact training began on Thursday 25 June, including passing and kicking drills.

Full training with scrums, line-outs, tackles and all contact activities will resume at the start of July, followed by the first round of games scheduled to be held on Saturday 18 July.

Larry Thompson, Central Coast Rugby Union President, emphasized that the current draw may still vary dependant upon future development with the Coronavirus.

“We are totally dependent on the decisions from the NSW Government, NSW Health and the various rugby authorities for what happens in the future,” he said.

Lions Juniors Vice President, Gary Morrison, said the Central Coast Council have given the Lions Club extended weeks at Woy Woy Oval to finish the Winter season before the Summer sport handover.

Mr Morrison also wishes to encourage players, from under 6’s to seniors, to participate this season.

Currently, the club has around 40 less juniors than last year.

For this year, registration is still open and will remain open through the remainder of the season.
