Parliamentary Secretary for Central Coast Mr Adam Crouch has urged residents to carry out their recreation sensibly and within the guidelines with group gatherings on beaches, including family get-togethers, banned in the face of the coronavirus pandemic.
Activities on all Central Coast beaches are restricted to walking, running and surfing.
Mr Crouch said changes to daily life were necessary.
“The surf lifesaving season came to an abrupt end at the end of March as a necessary way to stop Covid-19 from spreading and it is now necessary for beach activities to be limited to exercise only,” he said.
Since that time local National Parks have been closed until further notice.
At both Bouddi National Park and Brisbane Water National Park, the closure includes campgrounds and picnic areas and also includes the Maitland Bay information centre and the Great North Walk.
“We all must play a part in slowing the spread of Covid-19 by following these new restrictions and social distancing rules,” Mr Crouch said.
“Everyone needs to be aware that NSW Police will be enforcing these restrictions with on-the-spot fines, particularly during the school holidays.”
Central Coast mayor Cr Lisa Matthews said we all needed to obey the rules about exercise, physical distancing and the number of people in groups, whether that was in parks and reserves or on beaches and bush tracks.
