Swampies donate CADD pumps to Cancer Day Units

More cancer patients at Wyong Hospital can now have their chemotherapy at home thanks to Woy Woy’s Swampies Social Golf Club, who recently donated a CADD pump to the Cancer Day Unit there as well as one in Gosford.
“CADD pumps are worn by patients in a similar way to how a ‘bumbag’ is carried.
“The mobile pump slowly infuses treatment over a prescribed period of time, which means patients can have more independence while receiving chemotherapy,” said Nurse Manager of Cancer Services at Central Coast Local Health District (CCLHD), Leanne Cowie.
“Thank you to Swampies Social Golf Club for this very kind and generous donation which will mean more of our cancer patients can spend less time in a hospital bed and more time in the comfort of their own homes,” she added.
Swampies’ members recently visited Gosford Hospital’s Cancer Day Unit to see their donation in action.
“A cancer diagnosis can be so consuming,” Swampies’ Treasuer, Warwick Ford’ said.
“We hope that these CADD pumps will help to make the journey towards recovery easier for patients,” he added.
Swampies’ Social Golf Club raises money for local charitable causes through their members’ fees and raffles held throughout the year.
The Club has donated over $20,000 to CCLHC over the years.
