Gillett and Puata are the Coast’s Junior Lifesavers of the Year

North Avoca’s Brooke Gillett and Kale Puata

North Avoca Surf Life Saving Club is celebrating the achievements of two of its young lifesavers after the club had a clean sweep at this year’s Newcastle Permanent Surf Life Saving Central Coast Lifesavers of the Year Awards.

Awarded to an exceptional male and female junior lifesaver each year, North Avoca’s Kale Puata and Brooke Gillett took out the 2020 honours after a vigorous nomination and screening process.
Open to all clubs on the Coast, the Junior Lifesaver of the Year Awards are a way for clubs to recognise their Under 14’s members’ achievements and contributions to their community and surf lifesaving as a whole.
As the 2020 winners, both Kale and Brooke are now eligible to attend Surf Life Saving NSW’s Junior Lifesaver of the Year Development Camp and to have a shot at being crowned the SLSNSW Junior Lifesavers of the Year.
North Avoca SLSC President, Matt Slattery, said both juniors were worthy recipients and would make excellent ambassadors for North Avoca and SLS Central Coast when the state camp gets underway.
