Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre will celebrate NAIDOC Week on Friday, July 13, with presentations by two exceptional speakers.

Ms Donella Waters is a prominent local Indigenous artist widely recognised and awarded for her work. She is the embodiment of the NAIDOC Week 2018 theme, ‘Because of her, we can’. Ms Waters’ presentation is a slight twist on this year’s theme, she will be speaking about, “Because of her, they did”, and attendees will find out who “they” were.

Professor John Maynard will speak about the Aboriginal Soccer Tribe. He is one of Australia’s foremost Indigenous historians. As the celebration of the ‘Beautiful Game’ comes to a close at the World Cup in Russia, Prof Maynard will discuss his definitive book on Aboriginal soccer history. The event will take place at the Kincumber Neighbourhood Centre from 7:00pm for the cost of a gold coin donation.
