Driving charges upgraded to manslaughter

Police have laid additional charges following a fatal crash at Mount White in March. At about 4:45pm on Friday, March 9, two utilities and a Pantech truck collided on the M1 at Mount White.

The 46-year-old male driver of one of the utilities died at the scene. The male driver of the Pantech truck was not seriously injured. He was taken to hospital for mandatory testing. The driver of the second utility is alleged to have fl ed the scene. Following extensive inquiries by crash investigators, a 25-year-old man was arrested at a Wyong address. He was charged with dangerous driving occasioning death, negligent driving occasioning death, fail to stop and render assistance, impact causing death and not give particulars to police.

He appeared at Wyong Local Court on March 10. Following further inquiries, police laid additional charges on the man on April 19. The 25-year-old was charged with manslaughter, dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, negligent driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, cause bodily harm by misconduct, drive vehicle illicit drug present. The man is next due to appear at Gosford Local Court on April 27.
