Radiation Oncology Centres (ROC) in Gosford has been delivering cancer care services for the local community for over 20 years, and this year showed support for people living with blood cancer for the 20th anniversary of the Leukaemia Foundation’s World’s Greatest Shave.

Radiation therapist from ROC Gosford, Ms Wendy Morgan-Jones, has shaved her head, for the second time, in honour of her mum, who lost her battle to lymphoma in 2006. “My mum was one of the thousands of patients across Australia who suffered from this awful disease. “To see what she endured over three years was traumatic, and has motivated me to take part in the World’s Greatest Shave a second time around.” “I have been working as a radiation therapist on the Coast for nearly 12 years.

“I treat patients with all kinds of cancer and the bravery and courage of these people has truly inspired me throughout my career. “I understand the pain and suffering patients and their loved ones go through and I, along with my colleagues at ROC, do everything we can to provide them with the best care possible. “This simple visual act of shaving my head is a small token to show my support and stand alongside patients as they fight through what can be the worst of times for them and their families,” said Ms Morgan-Jones. “I shaved to support the Foundation that made the last moments with my mum a little less painful. “This year I’m proud to have raised $6,458 for the Foundation and have raised over $12,000 over the years.” she said.
