Tree group prepares for National Tree Day

Suzy is much happier in the shade. So should we all.

The Grow Urban Street Trees community group is preparing a day of tree planting for National Tree Day on Sunday, July 29.

Group publicity officer Ms Debbie Sunartha that now is the time to prepare your environment for the benefits of a shade tree. The group has donated trees for the Peninsula and has offered to plant them on National Tree Day. Trees offered include tuckeroo, brush box, water gum and bottlebrush trees. “You may choose to provide your own tree,” she said. To request a tree for your street simply email your request to the office of the Member for Gosford, Ms Leisl Tesch, at gosford@ parliament.nsw.gov.au Your request should include your address, contact details and your choice of tree. “Trees’ cool temperatures, make your walk to school, the shops or just around the neighbourhood much more enjoyable,” she said.
