A new beach wheelchair has been made available by Central Coast Council for use at Umina Beach.

The wheelchair has been made available as part of the implementation of the Central Coast Council Disability Inclusion Action Plan. The plan is designed to increase opportunities for people with disabilities and their families to fully participate in community life. The plan has been lodged with the NSW Disability Council, Local Government NSW and the Australian Human Rights Commission in line with legislative requirements. Two beach wheelchairs are now available at Umina Beach: a sand cruiser and a hippocampe, suitable for younger people. Ocean Beach also has a sand cruiser available for public use. The beach wheelchairs may be booked through the Umina Beach Surf Life Saving Club.
