The Central Coast Council has been urged to lodge an expression of interest to have the headquarters for the new state tourism area, Destination Sydney Surrounds North, on the Coast.
Member for the NSW Seat of Terrigal, Mr Adam Crouch, said the headquarters of Destination Sydney Surrounds North would soon be decided, with an expression of interest (EOI) now open.
Mr Crouch said determining the location of each Destination Network office would involve all local councils in the relevant regions being given an opportunity to express their interest in hosting the headquarters, followed by an assessment process by each Destination Network Board.
The headquarters would house three full-time staff, including a general manager, which would support the work of the board and tourism projects and programs in the respective areas.
“This is a fantastic opportunity for our tourism industry, and I encourage the Central Coast Council to lodge an EOI soon for the chance to capitalise on the NSW Government’s innovative new tourism model,” Mr Crouch said.
“I am looking forward to working closely with the Chairman, Mr David Fellows, and the Board of Destination Sydney Surrounds North, to drive more visitors to the region,” he said.
The EOI closes on March 17.
Coast Community News asked Central Coast Council to respond to Mr Crouch’s email.
