Parliamentary secretary for the Central Coast, Mr Scot MacDonald MLC and Member for Terrigal, Mr Adam Crouch MP have announced $370,000 for a new clinical and education space at Gosford’s Nunyara Aboriginal Health Unit.
Mr MacDonald said the funding was made possible through the NSW Government’s Aboriginal Minor Capital Works Program, which gives a helping hand to Aboriginal health services across the state to improve and expand facilities.
“The $370,000 will be used to build a new clinical and education space within the Nunyara Aboriginal Unit including consultation rooms, a waiting room with a toilet and a room for health educational activities,” Mr MacDonald said.
The building extension will provide clinical staff with the space they require to better meet the needs of community members and provide more privacy for one on one consultations.
“The extended space will also allow greater access for members of the large Aboriginal community in Gosford and surrounding areas and it will enable health workers to improve the delivery of culturally appropriate health care to the Central Coast community,” Mr Crouch said.
The service is located adjacent to the main Gosford Hospital complex, which gives easy access to a wide range of health and medical services.
“The NSW Government is committed to improving the provision of health services as part of its goal to close the health gap for Aboriginal people,” Mr Crouch said.
