The Community Environment Network (CEN) gave residents the opportunity to have their say on NSW Coastal Management reforms.
CEN recently hosted a free Environmental Defenders Office (EDO) NSW workshop in Terrigal to explain the new draft framework for coastal management in NSW and how the community can have their say and respond to the reforms.
The workshop addressed what the reforms mean for the coastal environment and how the community can get involved. “The NSW Government is proposing a new legal framework for the management of our coastline,” EDO outreach director, Ms Emily Ryan said.
“The aim of the workshop was to explain the proposed changes to the community and to help them have their say about how the Coast should be managed and protected in NSW.
“These are once in a generation reforms and it’s important for the community to share their ideas, knowledge and expertise on how the coastline should be managed and protected at this vital stage of the reform process,” Ms Ryan continued.
The workshop was held on Wednesday, February 17 at Terrigal Surf Life Saving Club.
EDO NSW is a community legal centre with over 30 years’ experience specialising in public interest environmental and planning law.
