Man charged over stabbing at Kanwal

A 26-year-old man was charged on Monday, February 3, over a stabbing incident at Kanwal.

Emergency services attended a house in Phyllis Ave, Kanwal, at about 11pm on Sunday, February 2, following reports of an alleged domestic violence-related incident.

Officers attached to Tuggerah Lakes Police District were told two men, aged 24 and 26,  were involved in an altercation in which both men sustained stab wounds.

It is believed the men were known to each other.

The 24-year-old man was treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics for stomach stab wounds before being taken to hospital in a serious condition.

The 26-year-old man was also treated by NSW Ambulance paramedics with stab wounds to his leg before being taken to hospital in a stable condition.

Following inquiries, police arrested the 26-year-old at the hospital after he was released at about 11am on Monday.

He was taken to Wyong Police Station where he was charged with: Use etc offensive weapon with intent to commit indictable offence; and Reckless wounding (DV).

He was refused bail to appear in Wyong Local Court.
