Scholarships in Radiotherapy will hold its annual Japanese Garden Annual Soiree on October 29, to benefit cancer patients.
The 2017 Scholarships in Radiotherapy research and education programme includes the addition of an undergraduate research award supervised by academics at the University of Newcastle.
The undergraduate students will complete their research at Central Coast Cancer Centre, Gosford Hospital, during their student placements.
This will further ensure Central Coast Cancer Centre offers the highest quality of radiotherapy treatment available.
To continue to raise funds for the new undergraduate award and other research and education programs, the third annual Soiree will be held.
Several local musical professionals will entertain guests in the garden with a special performance of arias from the Laycock Street Theatre production of Carmen.
The sound of Harp and Voice from Ms Annette Benson and Ms Jenny Murdoch will delight the audience as they enjoy Hors D’oeuvres and sip Champagne.
There will be an art exhibition by local artists and works will be available for sale.
The Scholarships in Radiotherapy research and education programme was established in 2013, with the opening of the Central Coast Cancer Centre, to support health workers for research, study and higher education, both in Australia and Overseas, giving Central Coast cancer patients the best possible treatment.
Qualified radiotherapists, physicists, nurses and other allied personnel working in the Cancer Centre are trained in the latest initiatives and developments available worldwide, thanks to the scholarships program.
Collaboration between Scholarships in Radiotherapy and the University of Newcastle is a major step forward for the programme.
Fund raising is specific and all money raised is spent only on research and education, resulting in more positive results for those diagnosed with cancer.
The Soiree is a way to support the cause and enjoy an evening of entertainment.
