Junior representative rugby league teams continue their winning ways

The Central Coast junior representative rugby league teams continued their bright start to the season with hard fought wins recorded against the Western Sydney Academy in both the Matthews and SG Ball Cup competitions.
The round four games were played in wet conditions at St Marys on the first Saturday of March, with the under-16s notching a 24 to 14 win before the under-18s followed suit, prevailing 30 to 24.
Both sides remained undefeated, with the Coast’s Matthews Cup side having battled hard to overcome a tenacious Bears outfit in their first home game played a week earlier at Kanwal.
The opening round in this season’s Country Championships was held at Coffs Harbour on March 4 with the Central Coast teams experiencing mixed results.
The Roosters’ under-18s prevailed in a see-sawing battle against the East Coast Dolphins 44 to 36, having trailed by a dozen after 10 minutes.
The Roosters managed to forge their way to a handsome 44 to 12 lead just after halftime before being forced to withstand a concerted comeback from their opponents.
The under-16s were sadly never in the hunt against the Dolphins, going down 54 to 0.
