I want my vote to count!
I would like to see the system of preferential voting replaced by first past the post – one vote, one value, one clear result.
Our current system allows a vote for a minor party to be applied twice and is open to deals being done to secure that vote preferentially second time around.
How different would have been the result for the seat of Gosford if the people got the result they voted for, and our sitting member was credited with the almost 2,000 votes he scored first past the post over his opponent.
What a hollow victory is that!
