Attempted murder by crossbow

A man has been charged over an alleged attempted murder in Somersby on Tuesday, July 15.

About 1:30pm, a 56-year old man came out of his house carrying a laptop and stood on his driveway at Dawson St. A 49 year old man allegedly approached the older man with a loaded crossbow and shot it at him. The arrow hit the man’s laptop and the younger man then allegedly ran at him striking him in the head with an axe. A struggle ensued and assisted the older man, where they both restrained the younger man. Police were contacted and officers from Brisbane Water Local Area Command attended and arrested the 49-year-old. He was allegedly in possession of a crossbow, knives and a piece of wire.

The 56-year-old man was taken to hospital where he received stitches to a head wound, before being released. The younger man was taken to Gosford Police Station and charged with attempted murder and malicious wounding. He was bail refused and appeared at Gosford Local Court the following day.
